Foundation Conservation Carpathia is the largest private nature conservation project in Central Europe. Its activities contribute to the restoration of natural ecosystems in the Carpathian Mountains, benefiting biodiversity and local communities. Since 2009, the Romanian foundation has saved more than 27,000 hectares of forests and alpine meadows in the south-east of the Central Carpathians from logging, planted more than 4 million saplings on 1,991 hectares affected by clear-cutting, and created a 78,000 hectare area where wildlife is protected from sport and trophy hunting.

Foundation Conservation Carpathia contributes to the well-being of communities in the vicinity of protected forests through social, education and green business development projects. The long-term vision is the creation of the Făgăraș Mountains National Park.

Our goal: To spread the word that rangers and their crucial work for nature are urgently needed in Europe – and it is society's duty to provide them with adequate resources! The ERF is also networking professional rangers and others involved in the day-to-day management of protected areas, the conservation of wildlife and habitats, visitor safety, education and interpretation, engaging with local communities, law enforcement and anti-poaching activities.

More in our Mission & Vision.

We represent more than 5,000 members of national ranger associations and have established exchange formats such as twinning partnerships between countries or international training courses. By also supporting the establishment of new associations as well as training and networking individual rangers in need, we reach more than 25,000 rangers on our continent.

The Romanian Ranger Association (ARR) is a non-governmental organization founded in 1996, dedicated to the protection and conservation of Romania's natural and cultural heritage. ARR promotes the ranger profession, supporting the recognition of the role of rangers in biodiversity conservation and raising their professional standards.
