All field trips will take place on October 8. You can sign up for the one you want to attent by filling in the form you will receive by e-mail after you pay the participation fee.

Places for each trip are limited. To avoid logistical problems please maintain your option once you have completed the registration form.

Ecological restoration, education and green economy in the southern Făgăraș Mountains

We start from the Richita Nature Activities and Exploration Center (970m), climb up the forest road to the Poiana Tămaș hut (1465m). We continue eastward until Șaua Tămaș, then we go north-westward to Tămașu Mare Peak (1735m). We will drink some spring water, see some bison if we're lucky, and return to the starting point on the forest road. Includes stops at two of Foundation Conservation Carpathia’s nurseries and the Beaver House Visitor Center.

We start from the entrance to the Tămașului Valley (the pear orchard with the sheepfold at the side of the road), climb up the former logging road to Piscul Turcilor (old beech forest area, unmarked trail) to Poiana Tămaș. We descend to Richita on the forest road. Includes stops at two of Foundation Conservation Carpathia's nurseries and the Beaver House Visitor Center.

Starting point: the road connecting the town of Zărnești and the village of Măgura. Discover some of the natural values of Piatra Craiului National Park. We explore the "precipices", as they have been called by the locals - a sector of limestone gorges formed by the erosion and deepening of the main valley slope, and in some sectors by the collapse of former caves.

We start from Fântâna lui Botorog and walk through the Zărnești Precipices. We go up to the Curmătura Hut, where we make a stop and enjoy the hospitality, after which we follow the trail to Șaua Crăpăturii. On the way down we cross areas of scree and forest and admire the view over the Bârsa stream valley.

We start from Fântâna lui Botorog through the Zărneștiului precipices, stop at Curmătura Hut and continue towards Șaua Crăpăturii. From here follows a piece of technical trail, where we cross exposed portions with support cables. We reach Piatra Mica Peak, where we admire the impressive panorama. We descend through talus slopes and forests to Poiana Zănoaga, where we return to Botorog's Fountain. This route is suitable for those who want a more demanding tour with spectacular scenery.
